From the rainforests of West Africa to the Boardrooms of the world.

Not a traditional career journey….

…but traditional journeys yield traditional results,

Roger wanted more.

Inspired by his teachers:  Roger grew up on the south coast of England and attended a school in Portsmouth that was ranked second to bottom in the county league tables and set low expectations for its pupils. However, as a result of the mentoring he received from two teachers, he became the first pupil in over 10 years to go to university from the school. He gained a BSc (Hons) in Geology and then an MSc in Oceanography.

Geologist to corporate career: Again inspired by comments made by one teacher, he set his mind on traveling the world.  And a way to do this was to become a geologist. So after university he worked for oil companies in West Africa and the contrasting climate of the North Sea.

Although he loved travelling to places tourists seldom visit, flying in helicopters to remote areas and mingling with different cultures, he realised in his 20s that examining rocks wasn’t his calling after all. He gained an MBA degree from Cranfield School of Management as a stepping-stone into international business.

Roger’s career journey subsequently included: Chase Manhattan Bank, managing an operations area during a period of organisational change; Amadeus IT, where he started new country markets in Europe, the US and Asia, and led their global key accounts; Korn/Ferry International as an executive headhunter recruiting senior leaders for clients across Europe, and digital marketing consultancy.

Turning point: However, the passing of his father was a trigger for him to stop and reflect on what he truly wanted in his career.

He left his safe corporate job to become a solo consultant.

He started with no network. No market reputation. No authority status. No unique processes. No growth strategy. No real idea how to secure clients (that’s literally no idea how to secure ‘any clients’ not just CEO clients!).  And with very little income.

Early on there were times when he really struggled and thought about giving up.

Turnaround:  Things turned around as he researched what high-earning recognised authorities did differently.

Roger applied what he discovered to his business.  Becoming a bestselling business author, Harvard Business Review & INSEAD Knowledge contributor and having his work discussed in the Financial Times, Forbes, The Sunday Times and Wall Street Journal. Professionally he became an advisor, mentor and coach to CEOs and senior leaders, with clients worldwide.

Recognising that transformative change stems from a deep understanding and shift in mindset, he sought to enhance his expertise in this area along his journey. This led him to obtain a Master's degree in Consulting and Coaching for Change (clinical organisational psychology) from INSEAD.

Over the years, more and more consultants and coaches he knew started to ask how he managed to secure conversations with CEOs of major firms when they got blocked by a gatekeeper, build a trusted pipeline when they were going from feast to famine and solid reputation when their expertise wasn't recognised..

So in late 2020, Roger he codified his knowledge into the Recognised Authority Formula™ and began his mission to inspire 10,000 professional service providers a year to become the recognised authority in their market and so enjoy the success they deserve.

"Today I love nothing more than working with ambitious professional service providers worldwide to unlock their firm’s true market potential."

Roger lives in London UK, with his wife and teenage daughter. He's conducted business in person in over 40 countries and lived in 4. When he's not with clients or enjoying being with his family, he finds time to follow his passion, playing squash.
